Decatural Alabama Art
The mural featuring Commodore Stephen Decatur was painted by famous artist Kelsey Montague, who was commissioned by the Community Foundation to create her first mural for the city's new public art project. The mural, which features a portrait of Commodore and his son Stephen on the side of a building on the corner of Main Street and Main Avenue, was painted in collaboration with the City of Huntsville and the Alabama Department of Public Art (APA). The Alabama State Museum of Art, the Chasing Horse Museum and other local artists recently unveiled a mural to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their commissioned work at their new museum in Birmingham.
The mural, which depicts a painted war horse with eyes - bright colors, was painted alongside Webster Karate, located on the corner of Main Street and Main Avenue in downtown Huntsville. It is open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday and can be rented for a variety of events.

Carnegie Carnival is held during the Mardi Gras season and is a well-attended parade in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana. The Carnegie Carnival is designed to promote art, family and fun and includes a variety of activities for children, adults and families, as well as children and adults. Camp Carnegie, a summer program for children, includes art classes, workshops and activities such as a carnival ride and parade. Handmade objects made of clay and raku glazing techniques are often hosted in CVAC, along with a wide range of other activities.
The Spirit of America Festival will take place on July 4 and is highlighted by the recognition of patriotism and laureates. The annual American Legion Memorial Day Parade and Art Festival takes place over Memorial Day weekend and brings together more than 1,000 people from across the country as well as local artists.
This is my first time at the event and I cannot tell you how many people I have to thank for their participation. You would never guess it from the support of the citizens of the organization, but most people seem to be there to support the events, to go with friends and not necessarily to buy something.
The course is the venue for the Spirit of America golf tournament every summer and the campsite is popular with camper vans. There are other launches, including Ingalls Harbor, but I wasn't surprised that others tried their luck on the shore or ventured into the shallow water in waders. Ibe is a particularly popular spot to put a boat, and there are a number of other starting spots, including Ingall's Harbor.
